First licensed in 1857 as the Royal Oak Hotel, this building is believed to have been constructed about that time and has subsequently been renamed the Commercial Hotel after the Commercial Inn, licensed to John Walls in 1852 in Sackville Street. Historical significance The two Royal Oaks are historically significant as commemorative trees planted to celebrate the wedding of the Prince of Wales to Princess Alexandra in 1863.
